Meet me!

Greetings! My name is Melissa and this is my travel blog – I call myself the “Brutally Honest Traveler” because I’ll give you the TEA. You’ll always get an unbiased, candid review — everything here is based on my first hand experience. I do not allow guest posts, I don’t write or recommended anything that I haven’t personally done, and I’m not going to be overwhelmingly positive about every place / attraction that I visit. Nothing is perfect.
My Background
I’ve traveled to 49 of 50 US states, most within the last decade, I’ve visited 18 countries, and I lived in New Delhi India for a while as an expat, where I became fully immersed in the culture and was able to travel all around the Indian subcontinent, as well as take part in every day life in New Delhi.
For me, part of the fun of traveling is photography — I first got into photography in 2011. My travel photography has been featured in printed and online publications, such as Lonely Planet, National Geographic, Moon Travel Guides, Time Magazine and Forbes. I’ve even had photos featured on billboards.
Today, I’m back in the USA and back to full time corporate America work as a project manager. I am not a full time traveler – I’m a regular schmuck like you who enjoys sharing experiences with others so they can make the most of their travels. Most of my traveling is done with my sister or my husband, although I have done a few solo adventures with my dogs.
What kinds of posts will you find on this travel blog?
There’s an eclectic mix of posts here – you’ll find itineraries, attraction and hotel reviews and to guides to some downright obscure places that are probably of interest to all of two people!
You’re going to get honesty here. I appreciate candidness and I find it lacking when I’ve done my own trip planning research. It’s actually quite difficult to get real review – there is way, way too much incentive out there in the blogosphere/trip review world to post something overwhelmingly positive — a lot of these blogs are just trying to make a quick buck by waxing poetic about travel destinations or writing listicles about places they’ve never been. Everything here is written or photographed by me; no AI!
