Parking at the K16 Apartments Iceland
The parking situation was a little hairy. There are only the exact number of parking spaces for the rooms here and the lot is TINY. We were driving an SUV and had to carefully park the car in a small space next to a concrete wall. It was tough and I’m glad my husband was the one driving as I would’ve had a huge issue trying to park here. And it’s not as if we arrived late; we arrived just at check in time, so around 3 or 4pm, and it was the only spot left.
I wasn’t entirely sure if we actually COULD park here, so I text’d the contact person for the apartments and she replied immediately — so great communication if you have any issues!

K16 Apartments Iceland – Location
These apartments are located in downtown Akureyri and you can walk to restaurants, waterfront, grocery stores, shops and all over downtown. Unfortunately, we didn’t do any of this because at this point in our trip, I had come down with a nasty cold and all I wanted to do was eat dinner and sleep. On this day, we had a very long drive from our hotel in the Westfjords to here in Akureryi — it was about 7 hours. Combine the long car ride with not feeling so hot, and I wasn’t up for exploring. But exploring Akureyri was originally was the goal of staying here — this is a great location!

K16 Apartments — Room and Amenities
Our little apartment was perfect! It was clean, modern and had everything you’d need, including an oven with a stovetop. Cooking utensils and oil were supplied, which is always a nice touch! We were able to cook a nice meal from our grocery haul at Bonus. The bed was comfy and there was a leather sofa for relaxing. Bathroom was a decent size and had all toiletries.

One of the best parts about staying here was the laundry! Doing laundry while traveling Iceland isn’t easy, as there are only a few laundromats in the entire country, and when you do find laundry facilities in your guesthouse or apartment, sometimes there is no dryer. The K16 apartments had both a washer and a dryer and it was free to use — plus they had detergent for guest use too. The laundry room is in the basement of the apartment building, not in your unit. There is also a clothes steamer and an iron in the common laundry room if you need it.

I got a great night sleep here, which was much needed. I think I went to bed around 7 or 8pm and when I woke up, I felt much better & was on the road to recovery.
K16 Apartments – Final Thoughts
Man, I wish we had more than one night here. I really really loved staying here. The apartment was fantastic. The K16 Apartments are highly-rated on Booking.com and it’s well-deserved! If you’re including Northern Iceland / Akureyri on your Iceland Ring Road trip, definitely check this place out.
